Some things are so great that they can even make the worst days seem alright.
Yesturday was no exception.
I didn't get elected Student Council President. I never really imagined how bad it would feel, putting in all that work and getting nothing out of it. The winner was a smart girl, an athlete with a large group of loyal friends, not ones that I could hope to sway. A few others voted for her, out of sympathy that she didn't make President last year. The voting was close.
She'll be a good President, but not a great one. While smart and well-spoken, she lacks that creativity that I have. I would have done it better than her.
And that's when I realized how much of a Bebop ending that was: I was the best candidate, I do the best work, and I get nothing out of it. It's shitty, but it's life.
So then, Gabby and I go to see Bebop at the Tivoli last night, in a sold out show. It was exciting, and I think Gabs really liked going to the Loop. It's just so artsy and independent. A few shops even had huge Bebop Movie posters. We wanted one. Turns out the Tivoli decided to give out one to a "favorite person." I begged and screamed and hoped. Apparently others wanted the poster too: some of the loyal fanboys were groveling.
We won the poster, or rather, Gabby won the poster. I just like to think that I helped. It will now be framed and mounted and Gabby's wall. I am going to make out with Spike when I come over. She will need a lot of Windex. She offered to buy me a poster, feeling bad that I had not won one. I have no room for one, anyways. Plus, I have the same picture hanging on my Bulettin Board. I see it when I wake up, and it is good.
The movie was awesome. The ending was really sad, though. But not because of the story, more because the francise is over. I've seen the whole series, the movie. Now I don't have any Bebop to look forward to.
I want to see it again.
